Making the Heart of Gold Set

Making the Heart of Gold Set

As I finished creating my 2025 Summer Collection, I couldn’t resist making one more piece — a feather pendant to commemorate my first collection. Some time ago, I crafted a 24k gold band with my friend’s father. I decided it was time to transform that gold into a feather to accompany the pendant I made for myself.

Hammering gold feels entirely different from working with silver. Pure gold moves like butter under the hammer, yet it can still be work-hardened. What fascinated me most was how the material seemed to bind to itself as I shaped it — it truly behaved like clay. Through many rounds of hammering and annealing, I learned how far I could push the metal to achieve the right balance of hardness and flexibility — firm enough to hold fine details, yet resilient for daily wear.

Once the form was defined, I raised the rachis from the back. I wanted the piece to be seamless, with no solder, so I forged the quill long enough to bend it into a bale. Chasing on gold was pure joy — my tools glided effortlessly across its surface. Finally, I curved the feather to complement my statement piece.

Now this gold feather has become my daily wear — a quiet reminder to always keep a heart of gold.
